Kintsugi’s philosophy reflects Japanese culture and teaches us the importance of cherishing and caring for things in our mass consumption society\, and the beauty of brokenness/imperfection in our things and in ourselves. \n  \nIn this workshop we will guide a small group through a modern method of this ancient craft. You will see and feel the beauty you have created from the brokenness and reflect on your own life’s journey. DESCRIPTION:Summer 2 – Ceramics All Levels \nInstructor: Jordan Hawks and Judy Madison  \nStart Date:June 29  \nSchedule: Mondays\, June 29\, July 6\, 13\, 20\, 27\, Aug 3 \n5:30pm-8:00pm \nCost: Member $260 / Friend & Non-Member $290 \nSkill Level: All Levels \n  \nCourse Description: \nThis class is designed for the beginner student\, but is open to all levels of skill. Students must be 18 years of age or older. We will cover brief hand building techniques then move onto centering on the wheel\, throwing bowls\, cylinders\, mugs\, vases\, lidded vessels and really anything else you want to get out of the class. We are here to help you make things you want to create. \nThis class provides use of all studio equipment and free firing of all work made during class or lab/open studio. Bags of clay can be purchased for $25 plus tax online. Clay tools are provided on a first come\, first served basis\, and a personal set of basic clay tools can also be purchased online for $20 plus tax. \nFor extra work time\, you may also register for the corresponding session of Ceramics Open Studio to get access to the open studio calendar and come in at your leisure throughout the session.
