SUMMARY:Alternative Printmaking Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Printing making is transferring an image from a matrix onto another surface. In this class we will explore that transfer process in a very loose and experimental way\, using\nsimple tools and techniques that yield surprising results. Think monotypes\, collagraphs\, gelatin prints\, making and using stencils\, making and using stamps\, found objects\, positive and negative shapes. \nParticipants will build leave with an arsenal of shapes and tools to cross pollinate the various techniques. The stamp and stencil shapes become part of your visual vocabulary. We will create a stack o’ prints on a variety of papers. DESCRIPTION:Golden StArt is a joint one-hour coffee meetup program designed to bring artists in the area together with the Golden community to meet and talk about art. Come grab a cup of coffee with artist\, Jenny on Friday\, May 3rd at 8 am. \nJenny Wilson\, inspired by the natural world and the interplay of light and dark in the sky and horizon lines\, creates paintings that evoke wonder and contemplation. Viewers are invited to lose themselves in the vast landscapes portrayed\, capturing the essence of the world through subtle sunset hues to the deep blues of a stormy sea. \nWith a carefully honed creative process\, Jenny works on multiple pieces simultaneously\, using black-and-white photos of places as compositional references. Employing techniques like scumbling with a dry brush and utilizing t-shirt rags for paint application and removal\, she achieves a luminous quality through the use of a satin medium for blending. \nWhat sets Jenny Wilson apart is her ability to capture the intangible qualities of nature—air\, water\, earth\, and atmosphere. Her paintings transcend mere representations of physical landscapes\, becoming expressions of the emotions and sensations evoked by the natural world. Whether depicting memories or crafting entirely new landscapes\, each work carries a profound reverence for nature’s spiritual and emotional resonance.

DESCRIPTION:Many times\, we use photographs or artwork we admire as the basis for a portrait painting out of necessity. On Day One of this workshop\, we’ll review the basics of portrait painting in general\, such as proportion\, composition\, and getting the most out of the reference\, then paint the foundation on our canvas or panel. On Day Two\, we bring the portrait to completion in harmony\, color\, and finishing strokes. \nThis is a working experience for acrylic and oil painters. DESCRIPTION:Making Cards is an excellent way to practice watercolor techniques.  Then when you are done you may use the image to send for Mother’s Day or any other day.  In this class you will learn to paint on a small 5 x 7 card.  We will use layering paint\, splattering paint\, Pen and Ink and a few other techniques.  Bring a friend and have fun creating cards for the day.
