DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun night out with your friend\, partner\, or date to press your hands into a lump of cool\, wet\, clay? Then laugh while you take turns transforming that lump into a vessel using the Potter’s Wheel. This one-night workshop allows couples new to the ceramics studio to play with clay while learning basic wheel-throwing techniques. Students will learn about wedging clay\, using a Potter’s Wheel\, centering clay\, and opening the clay to create a vessel. No previous ceramics experience is necessary—this workshop is open to all levels\, ages 21+. All materials and tools will be provided. Viewers are invited to lose themselves in the vast landscapes portrayed\, capturing the essence of the world through subtle sunset hues to the deep blues of a stormy sea. \nWith a carefully honed creative process\, Jenny works on multiple pieces simultaneously\, using black-and-white photos of places as compositional references. Employing techniques like scumbling with a dry brush and utilizing t-shirt rags for paint application and removal\, she achieves a luminous quality through the use of a satin medium for blending. \nWhat sets Jenny Wilson apart is her ability to capture the intangible qualities of nature—air\, water\, earth\, and atmosphere. DESCRIPTION:Printing making is transferring an image from a matrix onto another surface. In this class we will explore that transfer process in a very loose and experimental way\, using\nsimple tools and techniques that yield surprising results. Think monotypes\, collagraphs\, gelatin prints\, making and using stencils\, making and using stamps\, found objects\, positive and negative shapes. \nParticipants will build leave with an arsenal of shapes and tools to cross pollinate the various techniques. The stamp and stencil shapes become part of your visual vocabulary. We will create a stack o’ prints on a variety of papers.
